As the corona pandemic seems to be easing in most part of the world, with countries relaxing the ban to their airspace, the president Buhari has taken the opportunity to travel to the UK for his normal medical check up.
According to his spokesperson there is no cause for alarm as its just a normal medical routine and no an emergency as the president is expected to be away for just two weeks.
this now makes 172 days (and counting) he will be spending abroad for health issues during his presidency.
When he arrived in office, Buhari promised to raise the standard of living for the many, with basic healthcare part of the deal.
“I am aware that out of pocket payment for health constitute over 70% of total health expenditure”, said Buhari at the opening of a new healthcare facility in 2017. “My presence here today demonstrates our Administration’s commitment to put [the] health of Nigerians as a top priority”.
And yet the health sector is still categorized with non payment of arrears, poor health facility and unending strikes which was about to commence on Tuesday 30 March 2021. when the president traveled for supposed two weeks medical check up in the UK.
Nigerians awaits for the return of their president to continue his transformation agenda.
