Following the recent attack in the eastern part of Nigeria (Imo state, Owerri) tension has be raised and been on red alert on surrounding states.
Just recently a school in Umuahia, Abia state discovered a suspected explosive device by students of Union primary school Afaraukwu. The pupils of the school had found a bag who informed their and alerted their teacher who alerted the school authority.
Abia state commissioner of information Chief John Okiyi Kalu said the government is working with security agencies to unveil the source and nature of the explosive device found in the school. "we are waiting for definite official report from the Explosive Ordinance Department Squad of the Nigerian police who are currently investigating the incident".
Meanwhile security measures has been put in place to secure the pupil's and surrounding environment, with security patrol ongoing while the school is temporary closed.
Govonor OKezia Ikpeazu has directed security agencies to embark on pro active check in other vulnerable locations out of abundance of caution, he urge residence to be vigilant and report suspicious movement to relevant authority.
